M2 Metabolic Efficiency

METABOLIC EFFICIENCY

WHAT IS METABOLISM?

Metabolism is the process that converts food you consume into energy it will either use or store.

Metabolism regulates everything from your sleep and appetite to your weight and energy levels.

CALORIES = ENERGY

We need to stop thinking so much about calories and start thinking more about energy. A calorie is simply a unit of energy just like an inch is a unit of length. When you hear something contains 100 calories, it's a way of describing how much energy your body could get from eating or drinking it. Calories are NOT bad, they are required just like gas is required for your (non electric) car. It is important to know how much fuel to put in so that you can properly maintain those levels and not run out of fuel or overfill the tank.

Although understanding how many calories you are consuming regularly can help monitor your weight, calorie tracking is not the long term solution. Weight management is not simply calories in and calories out, or calories consumed versus calories burned. It’s important to understand that there are numerous things that influence your metabolism.

WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR METABOLISM?

THE BEST WAY TO MANAGE YOUR WEIGHT IS BY FOCUSING ON METABOLIC EFFICIENCY.

Metabolic Efficiency is your body's ability to utilize energy effectively.

When your metabolism is more efficient, it is better able to burn energy.

This leads to more successful weight management, energy and overall well-being. By focusing on metabolism instead of on restrictive and impractical dieting, you not only lose better quality weight but more importantly keep it off for the long run.

TRACK YOUR METABOLISM.

See what influences your metabolism by completing the Metabolism Assessment each day. Aim to improve on your score by trying to hit more and more of your tasks over time.

WHAT DOES MY SCORE MEAN?

Everybody starts somewhere different. No matter where you begin, it is important to recognize areas that you can improve on immediately, and some that might take some work and time to improve on. Use your coach as a resource to help figure out where to begin and tips to improve on your score.
